A man and woman have been charged after taking an allegedly stolen tractor on the highway and crashing into an army base.

Victoria Police said they were allegedly swerving across lanes and colliding with barriers on the Goulburn Valley Highway from Arcadia South to Seymour between 8:00am and 10:40am on June 17.
But the joyride ended when the pair crashed the allegedly stolen John Deere tractor into the perimeter fence of Puckapunyal army base in central Victoria.
The 36 year-old West Australian man and a 38 year-old West Australian woman were charged with nine crimes including theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct and dangerous driving while being pursued by police.
They will also face charges of criminal damage, trespassing on commonwealth land and possession of methylamphetamines.
Police said no one was injured during the incident.

The pair were "deemed unfit" to be interviewed after their arrest and will face Benalla Magistrates' Court on June 20.
